CareerNet SOC-LMI Analysis Dashboard — State-Level LMI

Wages & Employment by SOC Code

The 15 highest-paid occupations by mean annual wage, employment-weighted across states — states with more workers in that occupation have more influence on the displayed figure. Hover a bar to see employment-weighted median and percentile wages.

The 15 largest occupations by total worker count, summing employment across all states. Hover a bar to see the mean wage for each occupation.

Quality & Scenario Analysis

Answer quality ratings (1–4 scale) across three dimensions: correctness, completeness, and coherency. Higher scores indicate better quality — 4 is the best, 1 is the worst. Each bar shows what share of answers received that score for that dimension.

The 15 most common scenario types by number of unique questions tagged with that label. Scenario labels describe the career situation a question addresses (e.g. resume help, interview prep).

Goal Identification

How often each goal type was identified across all unique questions. Goal types reflect the underlying intent behind a user's career question — what outcome they were trying to reach.

Quality Reach

Which occupations have the highest share of mediocre answers (score ≤2 on any quality dimension). The 15 occupations shown are ranked by that percentage, so quality rate drives selection regardless of workforce size. Bars are ordered top-to-bottom from highest to lowest % mediocre. Bar length shows total workers; color intensity shows the percentage of answers rated mediocre.

Labor Market Coverage

Each point is one occupation. Shows whether career questions on CareerNet tend to concentrate around higher- or lower-paying jobs. The dotted line marks the average question count across all occupations.

Compares how often each occupation is discussed on CareerNet relative to its share of the total workforce. The log₂ scale makes the values symmetric: a ratio of +1 means twice as many questions as workforce share predicts; -1 means half as many; 0 means perfectly matched. Showing the 10 most over- and 10 most under-discussed occupations.

Goals by Wage Band

How prevalent each goal type is within each occupation wage tier. Wage bands are based on the occupation's BLS mean annual wage, not the individual asker's salary. Since questions can carry multiple goal labels, bars show the percentage of questions in a band that involve each goal — values do not sum to 100%.
